US Regulatory Updates: Implications for the UV/EB Industry

Brigitte Lindner, RAHN USA Corp

Abstract: In 2012 the OSHA published the US HAZCOM 2012 implementing the Globally Harmonized System (GHS), which is fully in force now. It is a globally harmonized hazard classification and labelling system including material safety data sheets and easy understandable symbols on the product label. The GHS system of classification and labelling will be explained in general, followed by specific examples of the impact on materials used in the UV/EB industry. Presentation is divided into two parts. Part 1 HAZCOM 2012 and its principles. Part 2 HAZCOM in practice such as classification of mixtures, and differences to Europe’s regulations.
